In an October 2025 interview, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Russia Sergey Belov stated that a redesigned 500-ruble banknote is planned for release in the second half of 2026. However, due to technical upgrades required for ATMs and other banking equipment, he clarified that the banknote is unlikely to enter public circulation before 2027.

Resolves to 'Yes' if the redesigned 500-ruble banknote officially enters public circulation (i.e., is distributed to the public via banks, ATMs, or cash transactions) before January 1, 2027. Otherwise, it will resolve to NO. Statements by the Bank of Russia or credible media reports confirming the date of entry into circulation will be used to determine the outcome.
