Will Ethereum's Glamsterdam upgrade activate on mainnet before 1 October 2026?
Glamsterdam is Ethereum's largest hard fork since the Merge, bundling ten EIPs that introduce enshrined proposer-builder separation, block-level access lists and parallel transaction execution. The upgrade was originally targeted for the first half of 2026 with a tentative June date, and was later moved to a 16 September mainnet activation. The Sepolia testnet fork was scheduled for 3 August 2026 and the Hoodi testnet fork for 17 August, and both public testnet activations serve as the leading indicators for mainnet timing. Developers have noted that the interaction between enshrined proposer-builder separation and block-level access lists has not been tested at mainnet scale. This market assesses whether the upgrade will activate on mainnet before the end of September.
Conditions
Resolves Yes if the Glamsterdam hard fork activates on Ethereum mainnet at or before 23:59 UTC on 30 September 2026, meaning the network reaches the designated activation epoch, as announced on the Ethereum Foundation blog at blog.ethereum.org and verifiable on Etherscan. Resolves No otherwise. Activation on Sepolia, Hoodi, Holesky or any other testnet does not count. Announcement of an activation epoch, client releases supporting the fork, and statements by developers about the expected date do not count without the fork activating on mainnet. If the upgrade is renamed or split into parts, mainnet activation of the part containing EIP-7732 (enshrined proposer-builder separation) counts.
